I do a 5" head, and an 8" body. The arms are 3 1/2" upper, 2 1/2" lower and about 2 1/2" hands. The legs are 4 1/2" upper, 3 1/2" lower and 3-3 1/2" foot. These are general for a full term baby. There are many charts available...I don't have the link to any of them. It often doesn't look right until the whole baby is put together!

I measure from the shoulders to the crotch for the full body measurement. Remember that this is an average. Each baby is unique.

:foryou: thank you again carol,
just one more thing, so i dont measure wrong.
when you mearsure the limbs.
do you measure from the armpit down for the arms and the crotch down for the legs.
Like you would if you where making some thing to wear .
sorry my question must sound so stupid to you

No questions are stupid. When I measure the upper limbs, I take into account the upper thigh going into the hip as well as the upper arm going into the shoulder. In other words, it is an outside measurement.

And, that, my dolly friends, is why I DON'T sculpt! That is absolutely AMAZING! But, I don't think I could do it and make it look ANYTHING like a real baby!

Thank you Carol. I don't sculpt or reborn but I found this very interesting. I have looked at it several times. I also LOVE this baby. Will it be for adoption?
Wishing you a blessed day.

I have three questions. What kind of clay do you use? How much clay do you use? How long does it take you to make a baby? Thank you :D

I use Cernit Polymer clay. It will take 3-4 blocks to create a fully sculpted baby. A full size, full sculpt takes about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to complete.

I got my skull replicas from http://www.skullsunlimited.com They are expensive, running about $80 a piece. Good luck on your sculpt, and please post pictures!
