What do you think of this foot? *UPDATE No 2*

Post by Nikkis_seaside_babies »

Okay, so in between me reborning today and managed to start work and Amelia~Rose's foot. It is only my third attempt and is very much a WIP, so please bear with me.
What do you guys think? Is the shape okay? I'm thinking the toes from the top look a little too long?
I still have a lot of detailing to do, but I think the basic shape is there.

UPDATE:

Ok, so I took all of you advice into consideration and worked a little more on Amelia's foot yesterday.
I've:
. Smoothed over the fat rolls on top.
. Lessened the depth of the crinkles on the sole of the foot.
. Made the criss croos less uniformed
. Added shape to the toes
. Shortened the toes
. Added a little extra detail.

I still have a lot to do, and you honest advice would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE NO, 2

I think I am happy with her feet now. I just have to add a little more shape to the arch of her left foot and thin out the heel of her right and I will be happy.
I have started on her leg, but it is still very rough.
I really am falling in love with this little one!

Beautiful foot, love all the detailing! Is the head for this baby the one pictured? If so, it is just beautiful, I would definitely buy a kit if you are considering making her a kit. Hope so!

Thank you so much for your compliments! :) Yes, the head pictured is the baby. She will be my first bodied silicone, which I will sell a very small no. as silicone kits and the rest as babies completed by me.

I'm still toying with the idea of a vinyl kit as I have absolutely no idea how to go about doing that, and as she is only my 4th attempt at sculpting (the first I've actually baked) I don't know if I'm confident enough in the quality of my work. We'll see how I feel when I finally finish sculpting her (hopefully before Christmas  )

Toes look away to long for wee baby. I've seen them, up close and personal and they are not that long until around 5-6 yrs of age.

Ok, here's my brutal honesty. I too agree the toes are too long. I also personally think the detailing is too much. I think the creases are too deep. Overall its a beautiful lil foot. Just needs some tweaking for me. You're doing super though. Keep up the good work. Your sweet beach baby is adorable too.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!
Cheers, Erin

Beautiful shape. However my honest comments are:
1. I wish the toes were a little curled down
2. I agree the creases are a bit too deep
3. I really don't like the diamond shaped cross-hatching on the bottom of the foot. It is too regular and defined. Also, shouldn't go so far into the arch area.
BUT!!! I sure wish I could sculpt as well as you.

I don't sculpt but this is what I would notice on a finished baby,
Babies toes are too long and generally a little too big,the creases on the top of the foot would only be like that if babies foot was flexed upward. Any wee ones I have seen have very tiny toes when little babies,we only need longer bigger toes when we start to walk. :D :D

Thank you all so much for the brutal honesty, it is greatly appreciated as it's the way to improve. :grouphug:

It looks like its unanimous, the toes will be shortened today. :)

Brooke, don't worry the toes on the other foot will have a slightly more curled up look.
As for the cross hatching on the bottom of the foot, it's only the beginning of what I'll be doing, it will be a lot less regular once I've smoothed things out and added a little extra detail.
I'm looking to achieve a 2-3 day old baby look to my little feetsies. I'm using this picture as inspiration and a little guidance.

Duly noted! I'll sort them out today :D

As for the creases, A lot of detail will be lost when I cast her into silicone, so the creases have to be a lot deeper in the clay, but maybe they are a little too deep. I'll have a look at lessening them today. :)

Once again, thanks for all the advice and compliments, it definitely helps!
