My first baby finally all done!
My first baby finally all done!
Hi all!
Thanks to all who encouraged me on my other post. After several weeks my first baby is finally done. This is the Avery sculpt by Bountiful Baby and painted with Che'Air dry paints. I painted many layers and tried to add as much detail as possible but the baby has tons of booboos (paint not diluted enough during certain layers, etc) but it has been a great learning experience. I did painted hair with a little light rooting on top.
My daughter loves it (calls it her "rainbow baby") and I'm glad I didn't throw her away as she will be a great reminder in the future of my improvement with more practice.
Big hugs,
Lynn

Re: My first baby finally all done!
You did a good job on your first baby. How did you like the paints you used?
Re: My first baby finally all done!
Thanks Teri! I really like the paints and found them easy to use. Since this was my first time I have no idea how they compare to other air dry paints or Genesis heat set but I really liked not having to use an oven and just skipped that part of the tutorial. I'm really looking forward to the ROSE class and learning.
I so enjoyed making this doll and can't wait to do my next one!

Good job for your first one Lynn. Each one will get better. Keep up the good work and your darling daughter clearly LOVES her rainbow baby. She'll be the envy of all of her friends.

Thank you Kathy and Erin! You ladies are so kind. Yes, she does love the baby and I have to say that's such a cool experience putting the baby together. Despite her imperfections, it was just so satisfying and cool to look this doll and think "wow, I made that". I work full-time and have two little ones, so I was only able to paint after both kids were in bed. It's so relaxing and enjoyable and really made me appreciate the art form.

Great job on your first baby! I am very impressed with all of the details you gave her (especially painted/combi hair.) My first kit I painted was also Avery, but I was not brave enough to attempt more than the very basics- so silly of me to be that scared considering you have to try and start somewhere.
Re: My first baby finally all done!
Aw, thank you! I initially thought I'd leave her bald but then figured she already had so many errors that I might as well go for it so I could get the practice. I'm glad I did as the hair was a lot of fun and I especially enjoyed painting. I am in awe of first babies that have full heads of rooted hair because it's quite an investment of time!avigrace96 wrote:Great job on your first baby!
