Good job on your article Debbie. This is a nice way to get OUR points of view out there, not just the people who think we are all nut jobs.

Thank you Erin! That is what I am hoping for, to get our side out. It is also filling the void that acutal Reborning has left.

HI Debra I enjoyed the article very much! This is so nice what you are doing. I would like to make one suggestion though. I love putting a face with a name or nursery so if you could get the artists to send one photo so we can see them it would be nice to add!
Hugs,
May :)

I knew I would like it even before I read it as you did such a great job on the restaurant review! I think doing an article on the cost of reborning would be a great storyline too, since we all get the "newbie" every once in awhile that wants a baby for some very unreasonable price. You go girl!!

As much as I would like to do an article on the costs. I dont think that it would be fair. Artists each use their own individual way of calculating costs. For instance what may cost me $200.00 to create I could put a price tag of $600.00 (using random numbers here) The same doll may cost someone else only $100.00 to make and they may only charge $200.00 So if I did an article with the bigger amounts it could lead people to believe dolls priced lower are not as well made. Or if I do a price on the lower amount it could cost Artists to loose sales because the clients will think they are charging to much. Price is a very personal thing some Artists I feel price their babies way to low on babies that are breath taking while other artists price their babies way to high on babies that are poorly made. So price is really a moot point since it is all over the place. People are going to pay what they are willing to pay for what they like. It really is personal prefrence.

I can see what you're saying Debra! I guess it would need to be personal (and individual done) to educate the newbies that think they can buy a reborn from you for $100 or less.

What about something informational about the costs of starting out in the reborning industry, the upfront costs of this hobby/business? That way you could discuss the cost of gathering the materials you need for a quality doll and then can include just labor (not as a charge but the range of time it takes to make a quality reborn). I have had many people over the years come to me asking me what they need to buy to get started in reborning. It could be informational for that type of person, as well as giving an idea of the investment for these dolls for the people that think we can make one for $55.

Did you see Bobbi's recent post where she was selling a vinyl kit for $50 and someone emailed her to see if she could get a whole doll from her for $55?

Maybe they should be referred to the $10 000 auction. It is most certainly high cost to start up.
