Magnetic Pacifier ~ yes or no?

Postby KrisC » Thu Sep 20, 2012 9:18 am

I know alot of you put magnets in your vinyls and then use them with pacifiers but then if a customer requests for it to be removed, you can remove it.
But with silicone... once I put it in there... its in there for good.

So do the majority like the magnets or prefer it not to be there? I love mine... I even put them on the top of the head for magnetic bows... but what is your opinion?

I love them, but I put a protective felt piece over them so they are not directly in contact with the vinyl. I am not sure how that would work with silicone, though..... :dunno:

I do not like pacifiers so I always get them removed.
My own children never used them so I guess that is why.
I think it is a shame to cover so much baby face with them.

I like them but i usually only put the paci in for photos then take it out in case the silicone gets damaged. I only have one baby with a magnetic paci (Nadia Arcello) but I like having the option!

I LOVE binkies!! I am very surprised that my little Ashie don't have one right now. She normally ALWAYS does. LOL!! :P I think it would be cool for silicones to have them too. I don't know how it would work though. I would LOVE for my Lily (Madison Fagan) to be able to take one magnetically. Although I do LOVE looking at her precious little face, so most of the time she don't have one (even tho she's got 2 gumdrop binkies). I am very afraid that I will rub off her paint on her lips if I keep putting it in and taking it out.

I put them in 99% of the time, & add ONE pic of it on eBay, but don't like reborns with dummys personally, but people seem to like them, only ever had one person ask for the magnet to be removed, & every custom baby bar one I have made, they wanted them.

I prefer my silicone's to have the magnets already in them, I've never had problems with the paint rubbing off.

how would you add it to a silicone already poured?
I think it would be great for those that cannot take a paci because they have closed lips
When your lucky enough to finally meet the one, its as close to heaven as we can get here on earth :)

I don't like when people cut the lips apart to put in a magnet on silicones. I have one like that, and it took a while to get used to... feels like she is damaged to me. For reborns you can glue it and remove it so yes for them.

I like it on Ooak dolls and reborns. Would be great to have it on silicone dolls but I don't think that is possible to do.

I have one reborn without magnets but sometimes I put a pacifier with some putty, (blue tack) and the other reborn have a magnet inside the head. I have put a paci on them a couple of times, don't like cover their mouths, so, I think if you like have your babies with pacifiers all time put a magnet, but if you usually don't use them I wouldn't put any. About bows for girls... is the same, I had a baby with a magnet for bows but prefer headbands so the magnet is not used. I think is depends to the use you have to give.

It depends on how well it is inserted. I insert a magnet into closed mouthed silicones. I take a great deal of care to cut the silicone and then seal it again so that there is NO visible trace at all. I work on a lot of make overs and am often horrified at what others have done to the doll's mouth. I have come across mouths that have been slashed with a knife and left with nasty ragged edges! I always indivisibly repair these slashes.

I put magnets in all my dolls. I haven't had anyone request to remove one yet. :D

I like paci's for my babies, but I hate gluing magnets in my babies so I usually dont. Plus i rather have someone request to have a magnet in, instead of having to remove one.

I like to have paci's on my babies, but don't leave them in all the time. I have only done two reborns with magnets, one with just the paci, and one with both the paci and for a hair bow. The new mum's loved them. :) I'd like them for the silicones too. :)
