How to make an easy diaper......
Thought some of you might like to see how to make an easy diaper for any size baby.
1. You need a pattern. I originally copied mine from a diaper I had..... Here is mine for a newborn size.... you can use the same shape and just make it bigger or smaller.
2, Draw the pattern. Cut out the paper pattern. Take the outer final diaper fabric and the inner final diaper fabric and put them together with the final outsides facing each other. Pin the pattern to the two pieces. Trace around.....I use a sharpie...but you can use anything that you want.
3. Take off the pattern and pin two pieces together....remember the final outsides should be inside at this point.
Sew the two fabrics together. Sew along the INSIDE edge of your line if you use a sharpie so that when you turn them the line will not show. Pay attention to leaving an opening at the top.
4. Note the flap at the top and the part you leave open so you can turn it.
5. Cut out diaper outside of drawn line.... it can be narrow since you will sew it again after diaper is turned.
6. Turn diaper to correct side. Just stick your hand in the opening and turn it. Use a sturdy pin or needle to pull the edges out if you need to. Pin the flap down and pin and then IRON THE DIAPER.
7. Sew around the edge.... close. You can use any old stitch you want..... fancy or just plain.
8. Finished diaper
pins..... I use quilting safety pins..... and these have little cookie buttons (minus shanks) super glued on them with Zap a Gap glue. You can use any old safety pin on them.... or put velcro or snaps or whatever.....
9. Diaper on William Taylor. He is wearing a NB Carter shirt to give you an idea of the size.
Hope you enjoyed this..... they are so easy to make. The clue of course is to sew them and then cut them out!!!!

Re: How to make an easy diaper......
Yes, I don't like "real" diapers on the dolls..... too bulky for me...and never seemed to stay on like I wanted them to..... so I just make lots of matching diapers to go with their outfits...... thank you for the nice words.... These are SUPER CUTE! Thanks for the tutorial. One question: Are they absorbent enough for reborns?

Yes they look great and so soft in other materials..... you can even put an inner layer of light weight quilting batting to give them a different weight and look..... thanks all of you for your nice words. Ruth

Re: How to make an easy diaper......
Forget to mention..... they are actually reversible --- so you get two diaper patterns on one piece.... have fun! Ruth

What a great idea!
You could also use velcro or snaps instead of pins, too.
Thank you so much for sharing.
