I haven't been called crazy because I collect dolls, but I have been called called crazy regarding the amount of money I've spent on them when they ask me. That is nobody's business but mine, and it does annoy me when they ask and then call me crazy or nuts.

Sticks and stones may break my bones , but names will NEVER hurt me !!! Crazy is my middle name...and believe me I've earned it !!! If someone calls me crazy ( most SMART people know better ) I just laugh and say "You have no idea " and , I walk away . :bbounce: :rbounce:

He said that to hurt you, in order to make himself feel better about the worthless, parent HE was. He knows that he screwed up but is too full of himself to admit it so he wanted to try and bring you down to his level. You shouldn't take anything he says to heart. If you let him know how badly he hurt you, then he has won. He sounds like a gluteus maximus orifice.

Oh Kellie. I'm sorry :(

I have not been called a crazy person, but my babies have been called many names like "gross", "creepy", "disturbing", "Chuckie", "stillborn not reborn", etc. etc :( Sometimes when we host gatherings at home, people would want to see my nursery to see the "creepy" dolls. So now when we have parties at home and visitors ask to peek in my dolly nursery, Erin tells them, "We don't want to hear any hurtful words. These dolls are precious to us, so if you're just going to freak-out, you can't see them." Good wife eh?! :D

I like Erin's approach. That is the perfect response. :toast:

Not to my face but I have had a LOT of eye rolls..   Ask me if it would bother me if they did.... NOPE! Each to their own. If you want to have some laughs go to a football game or watch one on TV.. Check out the GUYS that dress in their favorite team colors and stand in the freezing winter with nothing but their teams colors painted on them... Now that could be called weird.. but that's ok because its what they love! I feel the same way. I love what I do and others don't have too. As long as someone doesn't come along and tell Us they are banning them, I'm good! :D

Oh I'm so sorry this happen to you. I know exactly how that feels. My mother said to me one time "You're a grown woman and you have dolls what's wrong with you". That really hurt me. But after awhile I was able to let it go. I try to surround myself with people that love and except me for me. I know its hard but try not to let it get to you.

Hugs,

Laura

alliegrace wrote:Kellie, obviously you know the situation better than any of us here. However, my feeling is that it has very little to do with the actual dolls. Exes know which buttons are going to hurt the most when pushed. They know that from years of being with each other. It's seems to me that he knows attacking your competency as a parent is a very effective and sure fire way to get to you. He knows the dolls and your hobby are things that bring joy to your life. Disparaging both things at once was a great way (albeit a low and cheap way) to get to you. It all seems like a very calculated way to hit you where it hurts the most. He's probably taken (or has tried to take) enough away from you already. Don't let him have any more power and control to take away the things that make you the happiest--the things that make you you!

Just thank God he is not in your life and enjoy what you do. It's your time...enjoy...with no apology! :baby: :baby1:

Yes, yes, yes!!!! I have people in my life that don't quite understand my fascination, or love, for these realistic babies. I've had hurtful things said in the past and I've learned to be careful with whom I share my passion. The thing is, most people don't get our hobby and never will. At the end of the day, your babies bring you joy and that's all that really matters. I'm sorry you had this happen to you. :foryou: :foryou:

Yeah, like we aren't ALL a little odd in our own ways. EVERY single one of those critics have their own means of dealing with life, and finding enjoyment in beauty, but some are using drugs, alcohol or gambling, etc. so they need to find someone to criticize, I guess. Let's face it EVERYONE has their own quirkiness if we look close enough. A lady I know took one to the hospital with her, and every single one of the people who saw, asked to hold her. They're lovely. :)

I've never been out right rediculed, but I have been told my hobby is weird and morbid since they look dead!   NO ONE knows how much I spend but my hubby and he is fine with it. In the end, I could care less what folks say. It doesn't matter what I am called...but rather what I answer to. Kelly baby, I sure can see why he is your EX!!! Sounds like a really nice guy.
