Okay ladies--I'm prepared to be laughed at about this.

I have been wanting an infant carseat for my babies for quite some time now, but was never able to find one that I liked that was for a reasonable price (used). I never really gave up on wanting one, and always had my eye open for a deal.

When my family arrived at music camp last week, my mom went over to the huge dumpster to throw our garbage in. There, laying on the bottom of the empty dumpster was a beautiful infant carseat!

Yes, I went dumpster diving to get it.

I washed the cover and straps and wiped it down (and saw that it had been thrown away because it was expired) when we got home. I put my babies in it, and I think they all look adorable! It is such an awesome photo prop!

What do you think? Does this cover look old and outdated? I can get a new cover, but I kinda like this one. And how awesome that it is gender neutral!!!!

I have gotten 2 car seats like that, they weren't in the dumpster but sitting next to it. Both of them sat there for about 5 or 6 days, so I know they didn't belong to anyone, so they became mine! I think it is perfect! I sometimes just lay a blanket in it if I think it doesn't match.

Got my carseat the same way... next to the garbage bin. I washed it and ended up switching the cover with my real son's carseat because I liked the found one better.

That's a very nice looking car seat. You can't beat FREE either A new cover would be nice, but I don't think that the current cover looks bad or outdated either.

Great find! And they are out there Free as it against the Law now for stores to sell a used carseat....so what else does one do when they don't need it anymore? Throw it away! We live in America, that's an unfortunate thing we are forced to do.
Some of us use Craigslist or have Garage sales but GoodWill won't take them anymore.

Still, a great find Sis. Make a cover and enjoy some cuteness with it.

I'm glad you don't think I'm crazy. I've been enjoying the carseat and having fun scaring my cousin--she walk into my room which is full of babies on the bookshelf, dresser, in chairs, and in the carseat. It was fun to see her reaction, which was positive, by the way.

My husband works with race cars and explained me that the "expiration date" on carseats is just a precaution for the manufacturers to sell more carseats. Basically the fact that a family could use the same carseat for more than one child if they were spaced far enough apart was hurting the industry's revenues. More or less same thing that happened with the cribs they had outlawed.

Oh I think that's an awesome find Sis and it looks great. One day you'll happen onto a new cover that you fall in love with and have to have but the one that's on it looks fine too. Congrats. Can't get better than free!!!
