I made one from a ladies gown for her new grandaughter because the grandmother was going to die soon... inside I embroidered the wedding date of the grandmother and the baby's baptism so when they hand it down they can keep putting names and dates.

Sarah I had my wedding gown turned into a christening gown many years ago . Both my children were baptized wearing it.

Sarah, thank-you for sharing this! I think I will donate my wedding dress to the cause. When I was 9-years old, within a 12 week period my mom, my sister, and my aunt all had stillborn baby girls. My sister still cries when she remembers that all she had to bury her baby in was a white blanket and a diaper. This is a cause that is close to my heart.

our own Judith Crabtree (in Australia) has really been working with a ministry that does this. She has had lots of wedding dresses donated and she and a group of other women have made burial gowns for babies...so sweet!

does anyone know if there is an organization like this in Canada? I would love to create these special treasures for the babies.
13 Years ago a neighborhood friend who was expecting triplets  came to me knowing I sewed bridal wear asked if I would make 3 Baptismal gowns from her wedding dress ,I was a little hesitant as her gown was really beautiful with a train that was about 8 feet long and full of lace and appliques.
The babies came 3 girls the smallest was just under 4 lbs and the biggest 5lbs , I was able to get 3 gown done in the Victorian style ,and matching bonnets when mom say them she couldn't stop crying. Her girls are ok the youngest has some health issues but overall they are great. The funny part is they are blonde, brunette, and redhead :D

My sweet Wyatt received one of these gowns after he had passed... The hospital took pics of him wearing it and then sent it home with us :-( He looked so handsome... I'll have to take a pic of just the gown as the pics of him wearing it are far too heartbreaking :-(

Edited to add a pic of Wyatt's Angel Gown...

If only I could persuade hubby to turn his collection of t-shirts into a giant teddy bear! ;)
Another great Idea I saw somewhere was a shadow box with a perfectly arranged special outfit and accessories, to display in a toddler's room.
