Shabby chic nursery ideas? Show yours!
I'm rearranging furniture in my atelier-doll room once again, and I've decided to give it a shabby chic vibe... I have white walls and doors, and the crib and table are respectively espresso and antique walnut color. And hubby says nobody's repainting anything
Do you have ideas, pictures, some inspiration? I want to make this room not only my reborning and sewing spot, but my personal retreat as well
Thanks!!

LOL Angielulu if you want pictures now I have a big mess of dolls and supplies (plus the occasional random item) on the floor and tables!
I'm thinking I could apply cabbage roses pictures on the front of my dresser's drawers.Maybe paint just the frame white?... or maybe not, it looks distressed enough as it is...

I have a shabby chic style nursery…….here's a picture of my crib which is an antique, but I love how it looks with my theme…….sorry for the bad lighting, but you get the gist. It's very girly and pink.

I think it would be cute to use Tutus to make a bed skirt!
I took my crib down because I needed the space...I also have an antique iron one (not as ornate as yours Kellie) that I would love to redo.
I have changed the spread out to a pink rose one since this pic..but you get the idea...more a MacKensie Child's or MAry Englebrite look than Shabby Chic I guess...
...but for now my oval cradle has to do

JaNan can I come and play? Love your nursery!
Hubby said that besides the Victorian shelf and the table, which are antiques (and he spent a lot of time refinishing the table himself), "I" can paint whatever I like. Which means that as we speak I'm whitewashing picture frames. Well it's the middle of the night and I cannot start a big project without waking the whole house up!
I also need to dress and display my compo dolls collection. I have a few pieces on a high shelf (away from Ivan's hands).

Ooooh, I LOVE MacKensie Child's items…….we live about a half hour away from their factory, and I have a few items by them. My changing table was painted by my friend who used to work for MacKensie Child and was painted the same checkered style that she did for them, I love their stuff!! I LOVE how you did your room!! Gorgeous!JaNan wrote:I think it would be cute to use Tutus to make a bed skirt!

Rene`..my formal dining room was done in burgandy with magnolia wall paper border...I wanted a different look so I painted all the walls a soft brown with white trim...and did pink! I love it. I used apink rose print on brown background for the chairs...
this was a first pic
this was after I rearranged it and got accents out
Kellie..I got my cradle at a baby resale shop for $275!!!
Sure Elisabetta..come on over!!!

Thank you Rene', JaNan, Kellie and JenLee for the inspiration!!
JenLee that set is adorable. The detail of having multiple mattresses in the crib is perfect!

Cute! I actually did the same for both my sons, organized my dresser as their changing station. Never got to decorate a nursery for them since in Italy I was living in a one bedroom apartment, and here my younger never wanted anything to do with his crib in the first place.

Suzanne I can't wait!
I found quite a lot of free printable shabby chic roses and other accents on Pinterest, there are two that I especially like and one of them will end up on my dresser drawers. It's a sleek Danish style but I already painted the front of the drawers a light grass green, and after dealing with my reborning antics for a few years it's distressed enough
Hubby is talking me into painting the crib! Can't believe it. Yesterday I was discussing with him that yes, it's an "important" crib (originally costed a lot of money), and he replied "Well, it's a recalled (drop-side) hand me down that you will never be able to sell, not an antique, so what's the problem? Paint away".

If your going to paint anything use Annie Sloan paint . There is no prepping of the wood, just paint right over it, I just did my antique bed and dressers, you can also buy the furniture appliques which really add to the Shabby Chic look. Im in the process of doing my doll room in Shabby Chic but have a ways to go.

Re: Shabby chic nursery ideas? Show yours!
Pebby..where do you get Annie Sloan paint?
Elizabetta...you reminded me of a file I have of gorgeous cribs! My daughter and I wanted an older crib to paint up but most had the lowering side that was not working..why didn't we just make it stationary? we never lowered the side of the fancy, expensive crib she bought!
and finally..I have a headboard that is styled alot like this..without posts...that I want to paint like this someday....
not saying I can...just that I want to try!
