I don't like it when

Post by stefnanny »

I hate it when I buy reborn items that smell like perfume. I just ordered a body online and it smell like that baby powder perfume packet. As soon as I opened the box my nose and eyes began to burn. I am so allergic to perfumes and I know I am not alone. I think they should at least put it in their listing. I would never have bought it if I had know. I guess next time I will have to ask. Lesson learned. I would like to know how you all feel about this?

I understand the feeling! I would love to reborn more of Ashton Drake babies, but I can't. I can't stand the smell of the vinyl.

You need to ask or tell your seller of the reborn not to put any perfume in the box. No baby smells or anything. Tell they you are allergic.
Most of the time I mention how baby fresh by babies smell. If that is a clue that you may get a woof of smell then I'd say not to buy. But I also realize that when we put a new reborn in a box the fresh smells may be boxed in and stay there a day or so until they are all aired out.

I have received many new articles that seem to have a fabric softner odor that I don't use or like. I wonder if they like it.

Just ask and see if you can make sure they don't have extra smell.

I agree with you. It should be disclosed if people use it. I sent for some of those wafers and yes, they are strong. I put half of one in a baby's diaper and it smells very strong. I will not be using those around my knitting because I sell that stuff and I know some people do not care for this. And yes, I know some people are allergic to these scents too. If I get too strong a whiff of it myself, I start to sneeze and my nose runs.
Also when selling something that is used, if it has a perfume odor of any sort, that needs to be disclosed.

Those wafers smell fake..not like baby powder. And I'm highly allergic to perfumes. They trigger asthma attacks which can be dangerous. Why not err on the side of caution and let the buyer add smells.

I don't like strong smells, but something to consider is that if a person is used to a smell they don't notice it!
When I was a smoker I could never understand non smokers saying all they could smell was cigarettes, once I quit WOW.
Everyone has "scents" but if they are around it, or their house smells like it (ie; musty smells) they won't notice it.

If they ADD the smell, then yes they should disclose it for sure!! But I have found with some it is their house smell or something :( that is not something they can do much about.

I know what you mean, I love the smell of "real" baby powder but those wafers and sprays are way too strong for me, I used to suffer from very bad migraine's until I was prescribed a preventative medicine by my doctor (after suffering for decades) and strong perfumes used to be my main trigger for them. The smell was from those baby powder wafers. So strong.
