Help - Aleene's Paper Glaze not drying clear?

Post by elise1114 »

I used Aleene's Paper Glaze to help fill in around the new eyes I purchased for one of my babies (and to help hold the lashes) but it looks like the glaze along the bottom of the eyes isn't drying clear??

How long does it normally take to dry and is it possible it will stay opaque?

sometimes the outer layer dries too fast, leaving the underneath still white. I haven't ever had a problem with it eventually drying though. Do be careful though, if it gets old at all. Then it dries clear, but not crystal clear, and will leave a haze.

Hope that helps

Don't use that!!!! Paper glaze is cloudy! Use Dimond glaze only! You can buy it on eBay!

Yikes, I've already used it. I'm not sure how to remove now??

Oh, and the glaze is new, I just bought it last week. I dipped my paint brush in water before applying it could that be part of the problem?

When you put it on thick like that it will take a couple of days, maybe 3, for it to become clear.

Oh and if you want to remove it just take a toothpick(if your eyes are glass) and scrape it off.

Thank you all, I will give it three days and if it's not clear by then I will see if I can remove it. They're acrylic eyes though so that might present a problem itself. :(

Don't use water at all! And it will dry clear. Some of mine got old and didn't act right, but I don't have a problem with it. Just be patient if you put it on thick.

It looks to me like they will dry just fine. Next time maybe try without the water. I haven't had problems with this glaze. I'm very happy with it.

Those eyes are beautiful by the way! What brand are they?

Blessings

They are 26mm Monique Glastic Realistic eyes in NATURAL HAZEL.

I think they are the best acrylic eyes I've seen.

I know aren't they? That is why I thought they might be glass cause they look as fab as Laushas. :)

Sometimes if you put a thick coat, it may take up to 3 days to dry clear. I always try to put a few thin coats instead of one thick - this way it dries much quicker.

I have beautiful porcelain dolls here I made years ago...sadly back then there wasn't a real lot offered as far as non glass eyes to choose from. Now I have a Shirley Temple on my kitchen table right now with Glastic Realistic eyes in her in the color hazel. They have now too started to turn pink/purplely like all the other dolls I put them in. Plus I threw out many many pairs of glastic eyes new in the plastic boxes because they turned weird colors.Browns were the worse ones for this happening.
