Buyers remorse? What do you think?

Post by Teresaforbabies »

I think she purchased this doll without her husband knowing it and now he wants her to return it. I have been doing this for 12 years and doing the hair the same way, I have many repeat buyers and have never had a complaint about the hair. I think this is just her excuse. I don't know what to do. Here is her message to me -

Reason:I found a better price elsewhere
Comments:Hey there - my husband won t let me keep her. He says every time you brush her hair it comes out, and she costs too much for me to keep. Please accept my return, thanks so much

What would you do?? Ebay sucks lately and I really don't want to refund her because I think she has buyers remorse.. Here's the listing -

I'm sorry Teresa, I think she's gorgeous! I'm not an artist, but I do sell on ebay. She definitely has buyers remorse, but she can open a case with ebay, or paypal, and force a return any way, so I think I would tell her just to send the baby back, exactly as she was received, and you'll refund her minus the return shipping. Good luck! :baby1:

Just let her return the doll. If you say no, ebay and PayPal will refund her anyway. Save yourself the headache.

Please don't fall for this. Husband or no SHE bought the doll and SHE must now take responsibly for her purchase. Now I guess ebay will probably side with her since they always do but since the title of the pm mentions she found a cheaper one it's pretty obvious that she is buyer remorseful. I am so sorry for this. :(

Oh dear! She definitely got a great baby for a great price. Your original auction shows that returns are accepted within 14 days with the buyer paying the return shipping. I would go ahead and accept the return and then resell...hopefully for even more money this time.

Sorry but I find it hard to believe she will find another, as good, for a cheaper price! Probably is best to refund her, but I would be hoping she gets that cheaper one & finds it's cr*%!!

Please share her eBay ID or if you are more comfortable please inbox it to me. Thank you much and I hope it all works out well in the end whatever you decide to do but defiantly sounds like buyer's remorse. x

with the crazy things people have been doing lately when they have buyers remorse, I think i would take the baby back and refund all but shipping once the baby returns in original condition.

I'd let her return the doll and refund the money so you can sell her to someone else who will treasure her.
I wonder what her husband is using to brush her hair???

That was my first thought. What are they using to brush the hair with. I use a baby brush and I go ever so gently at that. Your doll is lovely. I love her in the green crocheted set. So cute.
I really am sorry this buyer is doing this to you but better to just refund her and get your baby back with no damage. Because the chances are that eBay and paypal will tell you to refund her and freeze the money until you get the doll back anyhow.

Just on the topic of the hair - I've got two now that are rooted, and both of them do molt slightly, but it's not coming out in chunks. I presume that's normal to lose a little every time you brush?

I would let her return it but you pay NO shipping fees for her.

I would return the money, and get her out of your life. She'll just make you miserable. It's a beautiful doll. Like someone else says, she has HUSBAND remorse.

What I think is you've spent many, many, many hours reborning her, rooting her, gathering her wardrobe, taking her photographs and listing her. And then all the cuddles and love you've given her. After all you've put into her do you really want her "living" in a home where she isn't really wanted (and where her hair is being pulled out too)? Wouldn't you feel so much better just refunding this crazy lady and her brush-happy husband their money and bringing her home where you could sell her again to someone who would love and treasure her (hey, like me!)? I wish. . .

Please make sure you post her ebay name so we don't sell to her. It's hard these days with the rules put in front of us to not give refunds. She states that she change her mind due to finding one at a lesser price. I'd have to return it and try to let others know who not to sell to.

Sorry for such troubles,

I agree with Kathleen. She has husband remorse. If she doesn't she should have. Tell her to trade in the husband and keep the doll. She should have buyer's remorse over that dude.
This is really a beautiful reborn in every way. I've seen some not nearly as nice for much higher prices. She doesn't deserve to keep this beauty. Even though this is a major PITA to have to deal with, IMO, you could sell her for more $. As others have said, someone else would love her. I am really sorry to read about all the trouble reborn artists seem to be having these days. On the other hand, there are those of us who really appreciate what you do. :toast:

I think it is buyers remorse, and she is using "her husband" as an excuse!
I would definitely share her name so other ladies don't fall victim to her lame excuses!

As far as her returning her, I really don't think you have a choice because ebay ALWAYS sides with the buyer...I just wonder what condition the doll will be in if her husband is brushing its hair out

I think what many buyers do not understand, is that if you brush the doll's hair like you would your child, some hair will come out. People take a brush to a doll's hair with way too much force. The really old dolls from the 50's had tough, rooted hair. But not the reborns! :x I never use a regular comb or brush. I always just "coax" the hair into place with a very wide toothed comb.

I'm sorry for not posting sooner but my granddaughter was chosen for Homecoming Court and I went to the football game. She looked like a princess in her sequin dress and she did pretty good in those high heels walking across the field! So proud of her!

I appreciate all your input, suggestions and wonderful compliments on this baby. I do agree, this lady has husband remorse! I also wonder what the heck they are using to brush her hair with and if they had read the care sheet I sent with her they would know to be gentle with her. I don't mind posting her name and ebay id because I appreciate it when others share their problem buyers. Her ebay id is larrygirl777 and her name is Rosemary Palmer from Birmingham, AL. I'm not going to do anything tonight, I think I'll just sleep on it. I'm leaning towards giving her the refund though. Thanks again !
Cheers, Teresa
