Good Morning!
I have had no luck selling on here or eBay lately, so I decided to try Facebook.
I joined a group and listed my dolls for sale and have some interest.
But my question is: Without the protection of knowing people on this forum
or the protection of eBay, how do I protect myself from being scammed?
These two dolls I am trying to sell now are expensive silicones, so
can I let the payment clear before shipping the doll?
And then let it stay in my Paypal account until the doll arrives safely
at its destination?
In the past, I have always sent the doll as soon as payment was received.
Should I only ask to be paid with a bank money order?
Thank you for any input or advice!

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
I am still relatively new to selling, but I have sold via my YouTube channel. I have done Paypal and goods and services to protect both parties. Paypal should cover you if there's an issue. Thankfully I have had only smooth transactions, but I haven't sold a silicone yet. You could ask whether the person has an eBay ID so you can check out their feedback. I think that the risk tends to fall more on the buyer than the seller when you sell outside eBay. If I were a buyer purchasing outside eBay or Doll-Fan, I wouldn't send a money order as it offers no protection as a buyer.
Anyway, I'm sure there are others who have more experience with this, but just my two cents. Good luck!

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
Thank you Lynn.
I hadn't thought about a money order not having the protection.
I appreciate your advice!

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
I would either use PayPal or a money order as Lynn stated for payment. Not to discourage you, but I have had little luck selling on facebook.
Oh there is definitely plenty of interest. But most times it turns out to be young kids that have no money. Or they want to trade some crappy reborn for my expensive silicone. Hope you get lucky and get an honest buyer.

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
I sell most of my crochet items via Facebook, perhaps I am lucky. When I purchase stuff from FB, if I am asked to pay f&F this is how I do it, I pay for Goods then when the seller tells me the fees I pay them as f&f it works for me.
I always send anything I sell " signed for" but if the price is under £15.00 I send " proof of postage" and always always take a photos of the parcel I am sending.

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
When I have a Facebook buyer, I only take payment as f&f.

Re: Question about selling on Facebook
Thanks to each of you for your advice!
So far, the group I am in seems to be the ones who want a doll for $500.00 so they can give it to their daughter to play with it and bathe it.
(I noticed this on eBay too)
And, apparently, many of them don't bother to read the description because I have been asked the same questions over and over.
I would like to find a new group.
Does anyone have any suggestions of a facebook group that appreciates quality dolls to add to their collection?
