The new Ultra Matte Varnish from RebornFX works well and can be used on BOTH air dry paints and Genesis paints. It leaves a nice smooth finish that is matte with just a slight dewey look.

There is a youtube video called applying air dry matte products done by Debbie Henshaw that explains all you need to know to deshine your babies. Works for air dry and genesis paints.

The RebornFX Ultra Matte Varnish is very easy to apply. It is thin, more watery than typical varnish. It has a matting agent in it that is a natural mineral that has to be stirred up before use. Then you can either paint it onto the vinyl and then pounce over it with a dry cosmetic wedge or you can paint a thin layer of the varnish onto a cosmetic wedge and then pounce it onto the vinyl. Here are pictures of babies I have varnished with this varnish.

Will it wash or peel off?

I use a magic eraser!

Very gently, it just breaks up the smooth glossy area. Works like a charm.

Once it is dried it is water resistant. I have had not issues with cracking or peeling.

It's worth a try!

As Linda said, the results don't last forever, but if you only have to give them a swipe every so often, it may be easier than trying to put something on top of the paint.
