Shipping OOAKS???
Does anyone have an opinion or experience with shipping ooak dolls in weather below freezing?
I don’t want anything to happen to them. The clay is around 10 yrs. old.
Thanks!!!!!

Re: Shipping OOAKS???
I've shipped OOAK's but not sure what the temperature range. I shipped one at Christmas to Massachusetts. Know the weather was really cold then.
Could you check with the post office for advice?? I wrapped all the limbs in bubble wrap & put a diaper on her head & face & covered her with a blanket & surrounded her in bubble packets. She was a 1/4 limb baby though & very thick clay, an Els Ostema from 2003. Hope this helps a little.

I am no expert, but I would want to make sure that the temp is above freezing during the entire traveling duration.

A long time ago, before I knew about ooaks in winter weather temperatures, I had an ooak sent to me, in the cold winter. The doll's wrist broke off from the arm.

Re: Shipping OOAKS???
I have done this before, and I have a pretty neat trick
I wrap all limbs and head in bubble wrap, secure head with 2 diapers, one front to back, one back to front... wrap whole baby in bubble wrap to secure, then fully wrap in fleece baby blanket (even the 2.99 walmart blankets are big enough)....
then I wrap in one of those insulated emergency blankets from the first aid kit! They are large, waterproof and only cost about $1- $2 a piece
Then I package as usual
I hope that helps!!!

Great idea Janelle. I would have never thought to use an insulated emergency blanket.JanelleMarie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 4:18 pm I have done this before, and I have a pretty neat trick

Re: Shipping OOAKS???
I won't ship OOAK's when it's really cold.
Re: Shipping OOAKS???
Thank you Erin - for asking the question !!
I certainly won't ship in the freezing temps we are having right now-
Love the idea of using the emergency blanket though!!
Hugs

I wouldn't want to ship an OOAK in this weather either but the emergency blanket does sound like an excellent idea............Hugs, Kathy
