How do you feel about this? IMPORTENT TOPIC

Post by MadelinesNursery »

I have seen a bunch of " Dollie Pagents" lately. I have no problem with the " Best dressed baby " contests but I do with Dollie pageants ( as the ladies call them). The clotting is not being judged, but the dolls themselves. Some argue that it makes those who can't afford expensive babies feel bad about their collection. Others argue that The Rose Doll Show does exactly the same thing. I am going to try to stay impartial and way all the opinions. What do you all think?

It's not really my thing in general but I see nothing wrong with them if people choose to participate. As for the price of dolls indicating value that doesn't interest me either. If you love a doll then the price of it shouldn't matter imho.

This is the first I've heard of them but I see nothing wrong with it. Echoing what Jo said, what matters is that you love your doll. Who cares what anyone else thinks? If you feel embarrassed about your doll, then that says more on what you think of the people 'judging'. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.
No one is required to enter these sorts of things so don't do it if you don't want to?

Same goes for the doll shows that hold contests. You aren't required to put your work up for judging. If you do, that's on you so don't feel bad if you don't win anything.

I don't think I'd want to participate. I'd rather appreciate everyone's dolls than award one for being "better" than the rest.

Competitions used to be held to improve ones work, It was a learning experience. I entered many many competitions . When I started winning every one I entered ,I knew what my lifes work was going to be. Yes it is hard to be Judged but it was so worthwhile. I would love to see competions come back!!
