Acrylic paints

Post by MayberryBabies_DeAnna »

I still have quite a bit of my babyfx paints, but now that they have been discontinued... When I need more paints, what is the go to for acrylics? What do you recommend and why (pros vs cons)?

I don't know if there's one "go to" paint, but I've been using Che'Air paints: http://cheairdrypaint.webs.com. Cher is teaching the air dry painting class at ROSE this year and I'm a new artist and wanted to go the air dry route but knew Baby FX was discontinued, so I decided to go with the brand she would use in the class. They're great and I think very reasonably priced.

There's also a new one Reborn FX which I've heard good things about and a lot of ladies also use Liquitex (the professional kind - soft or heavy body) also.

Go to the link I provided and there should be a way to contact Cher to order them. I think she's still working out the e-commerce part of the website.

Oh, OK. Thank you! Still researching the different brands out there before I pick a brand to order.

I reached out to Cher Simnett directly and she said you are welcome to email her at whoopiecat@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in ordering the paints. Good luck with your decision! :)

Michelle,

I have never used these but Reborn FX are highly recommended. I have tried Liquidtex Hard Body Acrylics since Baby FX has been discontinued. I wish I had tried Liquidtex years ago.

Thanks! I used Baby FX for the alien in my signature, but because they're discontinued I'm looking for a new option. I have Miracle Blend Paints now but I'm not in love with them.

Do you by chance mean "heavy body acrylics" ? They look pretty shiny in the video. What do you use to matte?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, those are the heavy body acrylics I have tried and plan to use alongside my Baby FX. Oops sorry for the misspelling... for matting, I use two products with equal parts mixed together of Americana Decor Soft-touch Varnish(light purple label)Image and DecoArt Media Soft-Touch Varnish. Image (Both of these I found on Amazon, but should also be at Hobby Lobby or Michaels)
Your Green Baby Alien is so smooth looking, I thought it was Genesis.
I too tried Miracle Blend, sadly they just don't match up. I have tried others too, none compare to the vibrant and beautiful colors of Baby FX.
I love using Air Dry Paints. :foryou:
