Is this old?

Post by Annette » Mon Jul 29, 2019 12:22 pm

I have the chance to get this wicker pram for $45 Cdn.
Do you think it’s old? Not that it matters, because I love it anyway. :).

I used to have something saved that tells you how to tell a repro from an original, it has something to do with the wheels. I think that is a repro. Let me see if I can find the article. It shows pictures so it's easy to tell the difference. I love it dear Annette, if it was a good price I wouldn't care myself. Here you go:

I'm thinking repo as well but I agree - doesn't matter at all - it's lovely and a wonderful piece to display your babies in!

Thankyou dear. A very interesting site.
I bought it anyway, regardless of whether it's old or not. ;) Absolutely love it as a display. I will take it with me to the Christmas show at the end of the year. :)
I took my Elvi with me, to try for size, and
the lady I bought it from, was absolutely incredulous when she saw her. She went into the house to get her son and husband, and they were all amazed by Elvi. :) Full of compliments.
They sell antiques, and definitely know this pram isn't one.

Tracy Lorraine, JackyKay and Dion.......thankyou dear friends.......this will be awesome as a display piece at the Christmas show, but for now, I have to squeeze it into my dolly room next to my Silver Cross pram. ;)
It's not as big as I thought it was, so it should fit.......fingers crossed. ;)

Very nice & will look great at your Christmas show, too!
Hope you got it squeezed in!

That’s great, Pebby. :) Got pictures?
This one needs a little TLC on the metal parts, but doesn’t look too bad as is. :)

Thankyou Suzanne. Yes, it didn't matter to me whether it was actually old or not. I just
loved it, and figured it was a great deal too. :)

They’re both beautiful!! Thankyou for sharing. :)
So, the hood on the same one as mine, folds down? The lady I bought mine from, said she didn’t want to try and fold it down, in case she broke it. So I might give it a try.
The gold is coming off mine, but it looks ok. :). But the wicker needs cleaning. Any idea how to do that?

Your welcome. some of the gold is coming off my wheels but it not really that bad and especially for pictures its ok and the price was great, the hood should come all the way off also . Im sure they were made by the same company.

Yes, same on mine. The hood and handle both come off. I didn’t want to force the hood to fold, as it looked like the paint might have glued the bars closed, but I’ll give it a gentle push. :)
Definitely made by the same company. :)
